Poker on the Boob Tube
The popularity of poker today is phenomenal. It even has dominated the boob tube, and I'm talking about all those poker shows seen on television today.
The most popular among all the poker television shows, it seems, is the World Series of Poker on ESPN. The World Series of Poker is undeniably the most successful tournament in the poker world, and its show is naturally the envy of other poker television programs. But what makes the show an equal success? Well, for one, poker in this show is played in various types, not only the popular Texas Hold'em Poker. Another reason why watching this poker show worth your time, is the huge amount of prizes to be won by the grand champion. With the games and the stakes, who wouldn't want to watch this?
Another successful poker show on ESPN is Tilt. The Tilt is not like the World Series poker which showcases real life poker games, but instead, Tilt is a fiction show. This unique poker show tells about the story of The Matador, a very good poker player. Tilt, indeed is a good alternative for poker fans who are tired of watching the real poker games. The advantage of Tilt over the others is that it can be more creative and dramatic.
If you want another unique poker show, then try GSN's High Stakes Poker. Unlike the World Series Poker in which players fight against each other in a tournament, the players in GSN's High Stakes Poker use their own money. What is fun with watching this show is that you can see a lot of poker players betting tons of money, so the drama is heightened. Of course, the dynamics won't be the same as in the poker tournaments, because the stakes here are different. So if you love suspense and drama, this one's for you.
If you want another poker tournament to watch, then check out the World Poker tour shown in the Travel Channel. The program shows games in the World Poker Tour, so if you are a fan of that tournament, this would be perfect for you.
Another poker tournament show is the Ultimate Poker Challenge. What does it show? It shows a lot of poker action, because it televises tournaments of Texas Hold'em which are held in the Plaza in no less than Las Vegas, for twenty six consecutive weeks. If that isn't a massive poker action, then I don't know what is.
